Upholstery in Brookfield — New Life for the Lounges You Already Own

Re-covering, re-padding and frame repairs for Brookfield furniture, carried out at our Salisbury workshop

Brookfield households tend to stay put, and their lounges stay with them. Integrity Lounge Designs has spent more than two decades as a Brisbane upholstery workshop, re-covering, re-padding and rebuilding the sofas, armchairs and dining chairs that settled homes lean on every day. All our upholstery in Brookfield is done at the workshop in Salisbury, because we have no branch in Brookfield itself. Pick-up and drop-off can be arranged for many jobs, and the options and any associated costs are set out when we quote.

07 3272 7832 Mon–Thu 7:00am–4:00pm; Fri 7:00am–12:00pm; Sat by appointment; Sun closed 12c Chrome Street, Salisbury QLD 4107 Brisbane, QLD

A lounge bought when a family moved in can outlast several rounds of new paint, new curtains and new carpet. By the time its fabric looks tired, the timber frame inside is often still perfectly sound, and that frame is the part most worth keeping. Older lounges often have better timber frames than mass-produced modern pieces, so reupholstering puts new fabric and upgraded fillings onto a structure that has already proved itself.

Our approach pairs traditional hand skills with modern techniques. Frames, springs and webbing are checked and repaired before any new fabric goes on, and the finished piece should show neat seams, aligned patterns, crisp piping and smooth surfaces.

Local knowledge

What Brookfield homes and venues send us

Wikipedia describes Brookfield as a rural residential suburb about 13 kilometres west of the Brisbane CBD and roughly 3 kilometres north of the Brisbane River. A small number of farms remain, although the vast majority of property is residential. It is also a place that keeps things going: Brookfield State School opened in 1871 and its original building is still in use, and the Brookfield Show runs over three days every year.

The 2021 Census suggests the households behave the same way. Some 47.4% of Brookfield homes are owned outright and a further 41.6% are owned with a mortgage, against 31.0% and 35.0% across Australia. Just 8.3% are rented, compared with 30.6% nationally, and the median age of 47 sits nine years above the national 38.

Household make-up points in the same direction. Only 12.4% of Brookfield homes are lone-person households, roughly half the national rate of 25.6%, while couple families without children make up 36.9% of families. Together these figures describe homes that are furnished once and then lived in for a long time, which makes upholstery in Brookfield mostly a question of renewing good pieces rather than buying replacements.

Time is not the only pressure on that furniture. Brisbane's humidity, summer storms and UV fade colours, sag cushions and dry out timber, and a lounge that has sat in a sunny room for years usually shows all three.

There is no Integrity Lounge Designs shopfront, branch or team in Brookfield. Every Brookfield piece is reupholstered at our Salisbury workshop, and owners either bring it in or ask about pick-up and drop-off, which can be arranged for many jobs with any associated costs confirmed at quote.

Workshop notes

What tends to go wrong, and how we handle it

01

Seat cushions that have sunk after years of family use

Why it happens

In a home that has been lived in for a long time, the same lounge carries the household through every evening, and its foam slowly loses height.

Why it matters

A low, soft seat is uncomfortable to get in and out of well before the cover looks worn.

How we handle it

We re-pad seats and backs with high-resilience foams that hold their shape in Queensland conditions, and re-cover the lounge at the same time if the fabric is due.

02

Fabric that has faded while the frame stayed strong

Why it happens

UV through living-room windows bleaches colour from the side of a lounge that faces the light.

Why it matters

A faded cover makes a structurally sound lounge look ready for the kerb.

How we handle it

Re-covering gives the frame a new face, using fabrics with good lightfastness that are chosen for sun exposure, humidity and everyday use.

03

A seat that dips in one spot

Why it happens

Springs break and webbing stretches under the place where people sit most often.

Why it matters

The dip spreads, and new fabric over failed support will not stay smart for long.

How we handle it

We carry out spring, webbing and structural reinforcement first, so the lounge has proper internal support before it is re-covered.

04

Dining chairs and bar stools with tired seats and loose joints

Why it happens

Chairs are dragged out, leaned back on and sat on at every meal, and both the padding and the glued joints feel it.

Why it matters

A set where one chair wobbles and two seats are stained no longer looks like a set.

How we handle it

We reupholster dining chairs and bar stools, and strengthen, re-glue and tighten frames as part of the same job.

05

A good piece that no longer suits the room

Why it happens

Long-held homes get renovated, and furniture bought for one layout ends up in another.

Why it matters

A well-made piece that sits awkwardly in its new position often gets moved out instead of used.

How we handle it

We make custom alterations so existing furniture suits a new room or layout, after looking at how the piece is built.

06

A bedroom chair, ottoman or keepsake that nobody wants to lose

Why it happens

Families that stay in one house for decades collect occasional pieces with a story attached.

Why it matters

Sentimental furniture cannot be replaced like for like, so the work has to respect the original.

How we handle it

We reupholster bedroom chairs, ottomans, occasional pieces and heirlooms, and add surface refinishing and light timber touch-ups where the timber needs it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is a lounge we have owned for many years worth reupholstering?

Often it is. Older lounges frequently have better timber frames than mass-produced modern pieces, and reupholstering gives that frame new fabric and upgraded fillings. We check the frame, springs and webbing first and tell you what the piece needs.

Which fabrics last in a sunny Brisbane living room?

Fabrics with good lightfastness and breathable weaves generally cope best with UV and humidity. We guide you through options from classic weaves to modern performance textiles, matched to how much sun the room gets and how hard the lounge is used.

Do you have a workshop or showroom in Brookfield?

No. The only workshop is at 12c Chrome Street, Salisbury, and all upholstery in Brookfield is carried out there. You can drop pieces in during opening hours or ask about pick-up and drop-off.

Can you collect a large lounge from a Brookfield property?

For many jobs we can arrange pick-up and drop-off. Whether that suits your piece, and any cost involved, is confirmed in the quote so you can decide with everything in front of you.

Do you only work on lounges?

No. Alongside lounges and modulars we reupholster dining chairs, armchairs, bar stools, bedroom chairs, ottomans and occasional pieces, and we handle commercial seating such as reception lounges and banquettes.

How do I book a quote?

Ring 07 3272 7832 between 7:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Thursday or between 7:00am and 12:00pm on Friday, or fill in the free quote form online. Saturday visits to the workshop are by appointment, and we outline an estimated schedule when you first get in touch.

Next step

If the lounge your household has lived with for years is sagging, faded or loose underneath, it is probably worth a second life rather than a replacement. Phone the workshop on 07 3272 7832 or ask for a free quote online, and we will talk through fabric, fillings and frame work before anything is booked.
