The suburb carries the name of Sir Matthew Nathan, Governor of Queensland from 1920 to 1926, and was named on 1 August 1967. Wikipedia lists Toohey Forest Conservation Park, Griffith University's Nathan campus and the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre among its features, and records that there are no schools within Nathan itself. Its residential streets sit between those landmarks, with Salisbury as the neighbouring suburb to the west.
The 2021 Census shows a community where furniture is owned by a wide mix of households. Owners outright make up 31.2% of households, almost exactly the national figure of 31.0%, while 31.5% are paying off a mortgage and 32.4% rent. Renters do not own the walls, but the lounge that moves with them from one lease to the next is theirs, and a reupholstered sofa travels just as well as a new one.
Households here also tend to be small. Lone-person households make up 31.5% of the total, against 25.6% across Australia, and family households 62.4%, compared with 70.5% nationally. Of Nathan's 208 families, 37.5% are couples without children and 13.5% are one-parent families, and the median age is 28.
In a smaller household, one good lounge and a handful of good chairs do almost all the sitting, so comfort tends to fail well before the frame does. That is where upholstery in Nathan earns its keep. Brisbane's humidity, summer storms and strong UV fade colours, sag cushions and dry out timber, so the work goes deeper than the fabric: robust frames and internal support, high-resilience foams that hold their shape in Queensland conditions, and covers chosen for humidity, everyday use and sun exposure.
There is no Integrity Lounge Designs shopfront in Nathan. Every upholstery job for Nathan is carried out at our Salisbury workshop, in the suburb immediately to Nathan's west. For many jobs we can arrange pick-up and drop-off between your home and the workshop; the options, and any costs attached to them, are confirmed in your quote.
